OVA WELCOMES FALLIS AS COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
(Guelph)
– The Ontario Veal Association (OVA) is proud to announce that Marianne Fallis
has been hired as the new Communications Coordinator, effective immediately.
As a graduate of Grant MacEwan College’s Public Relations diploma program (2005)
and the University of Guelph’s Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree program
(2004), Fallis is aware of the challenges facing agriculture and the role communication
plays in overcoming these challenges.
“Communicating about the agricultural industry is extremely important,” she says.
“Having a connection between producers, consumers, government, and other industry
partners is imperative for success in this industry. I look forward to playing
an active role in enhancing this connection with the OVA, while promoting Ontario’s
veal industry.”
During her time at the University of Guelph, Fallis was actively involved in
the Students Promoting Awareness of Research Knowledge (SPARK) and Project SOY
(Soybean Opportunities for Youth) programs. Fallis grew up just outside of Peterborough
and has been an enthusiastic member of Peterborough’s agricultural community.
As the OVA’s Communications Coordinator, Fallis will be responsible for the production
of the organization’s communications materials, including the Ontario Veal News,
and will act as a representative for the OVA and its producers at a variety of
industry functions.
“The Ontario Veal Association is dedicated to providing high quality services
to our members. As the OVA continues to grow we need to ensure we have the staff
resources to serve the organization” says Jennifer Haley, OVA Executive Director.
“I am looking forward to working with Marianne. Her enthusiasm for agriculture
and diverse skill base will be an asset to the OVA.”
The OVA is a producer run organization representing Ontario’s 450+ grain fed
and milk fed veal producers. The OVA is responsible for marketing and promotions,
producer education, communication, government and industry partner relations,
and research and industry development.
